On September 18 and 19, 2024, the first Photonics Network Meeting in Salzburg took place at the Edmundsburg: Sony DADC, together with the EPIC network, organized the event entitled “EPIC Technology Meeting on Photonics for Miniaturized Optics: From Components to Use-cases at Sony DADC”.
A total of 25 speakers informed the participants about achievements and challenges in the world of micro-optics in exciting presentations at the EPIC meeting (European Photonics Industry Consortium). Topics such as manufacturing, design, simulation, and quality control of miniaturized optics were covered. The participants included international and national companies as well as research institutions such as Joanneum Research, Fraunhofer, Profactor, Silicon Austria, EVG, Nanoscribe, HELLA, ZKW Group, and Plastic Omnium Lighting.
As host, Sony DADC together with EPIC offered the participants an all-around program: with perfect weather and excellent culinary accompaniment, a stimulating exchange took place against the beautiful scenery of Salzburg.
A special highlight for the international visitors was a short city tour. At the end of the event, the participants were given a company tour of Sony DADC in Thalgau. For Sony DADC, this event represents a further step towards a new future for the company as a manufacturer of micro-optical elements and brings us a stage closer to our goal of revolutionizing lighting and sensor applications worldwide through polymer-based technology.
